type='text'>Independence Day - Don't be a Donkey!

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium width="200" />So July 4th or for some Independence Day is approaching fast so what are YOUR plans? I think you should come with me and witness the craziness that I call co-workers live and first hand. They’ll be hotdogs, hobnobbing, cheeseburgers and tons to whisper about. Don’t worry, you won’t be the only one and you probably will be whispered about too. Feel free to call me if you want in, they’ll also be fireworks and tons of drunken city employees. East Rock (I think) will be the spot this year. I liked how DL Sea Street was before the “gang” infiltrated.

Speaking of city officials, let’s talk about the Governors race. Most of you know this, but I consider myself very active within my Democratic community- (as if there is another community here in New Haven) but I am URGING everyone to vote democratically this year for governor. I can’t stress to you how important it is to have someone other than a republican in office. I just honestly believe that certain people are for certain things. I don’t fit in the tax bracket of a republican. I don’t fit what one looks like (any longer) so this makes things that are important to me less important for someone unlike me. Yes, it may sound convoluted or even superficial, but hey why be a donkey when you can be an Elephant?

So in case you hear me switching sides, I might have a problem with ya boy Blumenthal. There was some “talk” yesterday about him asking to get Eddie Perez pension revoked for him being caught guilty for corruption. I know it’s his duty as Attorney General to do so, I just hope he doesn’t “go hard or go home”. Now I like “sticking it to the man” but why he gotta try to stick it to the brown brotha first. Governor MuthaLuvin ROWLAND (NOW YOU GOT ME YELLIN) DUN STOLE AND CHEATED AND LIED to me and the rest of CT and he got a pension. There are tons of cops and tons of officials that SKATED right to their union reps or pension offices just in time to get the first check initiated. So I know he has to make an example out of someone, I just don’t appreciate it being someone of color. Yes, I said it! Ohhh I’m fuming mad. I started to Google the list of officials that stole and got pensions but I don’t want to know. It’s TOO late in the day and I got “home sweet home” to think about. *sigh

Here is the Wedding Resource of the day - Indoor Venues. Check out the links and don’t forget to click on Wedding specials. There’s tons of cute lil already put together options that look pretty affordable. Did You know that most venues are almost HALF PRICE during the week, rather than a “typical” weekend affair? I'm almost done with my day and should start the convo off with a Birthday shout out to my girl Lil Mimi...lol ya’ll probably know her as Mimi or Millette for that matter. Anyways shouts out to all the wondrous Cancer women today. I USED to rep all Cancers (laugh) then I realized that Cancer men are sort of treacherous...(chuckle) so I will stick with the nurturing, sensitive, generous Cancer women.

Now I would like to discuss True Blood only I haven’t seen any episodes yet this season. I think I may start sometime this week- with catching up and then be on and current for the next week. But Chhiillleeeee I heard Bill went Buck-Wild on Sunday and I’m glad Sookie missed it even though I did. I’m in luv with Bill’s character because he has daughter issues (among others) and its so endearing to see his pain through his actions. He seems so overly sensitive without carrying a comb everywhere. I knew early on that I would have issues with my attraction of overtly stylish men. It’s a very dangerous attraction since overly stylish men are very dangerous individuals. I say all of it loosely and am trying NOT to generalize. So don’t sue me, k...But I digress. . . BILL or Robert as I like to call him; seems like the perfect man minus the lack of tan. I’m totally into mature men so his age: PERFECT. I buy into the whole “age equals wisdom thing”, so his age is an instant attraction. Don’t judge me, I told you I have issues. But the next thing to catch me eye and peek my selfish side is his physic. I only found out recently that I like athletic body types. After weight loss your pool of men that will date you opens up. Sad but true.. Of course being the same person, helps me remain focused and not too bitter about certain a-holes who no longer let the door slam on you as they race you inside the building in a downpour... *sigh* But a teddy bear is appreciated.

So I wanna make a tiny lil confession. I did not iron my pants for work today. I didn’t think they were that bad. Like normal, my construction worker/fantasy crush for the week smiled and I looked down to check on a possible zipper malfunction. I was ok, so I waltzed into work. Before sitting down, the Holy Spirit led me to the conveniently placed floor length mirror hidden inside the $80,000 armoire and BOOM! WRINKLE –CITY! To make matters worse my pants are entirely too big. I knew that but was willing to play it off but wrinkled too?! If I had stylish contenders at work I’d almost care. If there were eye candy or even a potential flirty co-worker to practice in front of, I’d of died, but my competition here at work is over 70. I just don’t want Stacy or Clinton jumping out of the bushes on my walk home. *sigh*. Pray for me...

Ok so I might as well let you in on my Daddy issues. So few people read this, so It’s not like I’m opening up the can of worms yet, but I basically let men who have daughter issues have their way, (which probably isn’t good for the both of us). I’m not saying I dress up like a Geisha or anything crazy. I certainly don’t wear ponytails (role playing is another topic, don’t get me off track...) But seriously, I shrink right into “Yes, Daddy” mode when “he” walks by and needs a smile and just like the “Daddy” he is, he melts. I still get winks several times a day-to this day. I remember getting winked at least 10 times a day as a lil girl. I’d always stop counting at 10 because after that it seemed weird. Or I’d felt weird after the 11th freak gave me the “sit on my lap stare”. I find myself doing the special wink that should reassure kids that I will look out for em in case some creep comes jumping outta the rape van. I am careful not make it out to be the “SHHHHHHH, don’t tell mommy wink”. I don’t want kids of my own and I certainly don’t want YOU to think I want yours in any way shape or form.

*Sigh * I started off yet again with the intentions on giving you my wedding tips of the day. It seems as though Spellcheck is “biased” these days. Anywho, what’s going on in the world? I am sensing that SEX is going on by the number of children being born in 2010. If I dared to consider kids in my future I’d be jealous and feeling left out. Now Marriage on the other hand, I’m THERE! I have the privilege of (sort of) planning my bff’s wedding for this fall. I won’t divulge in case she’s reading this. I have NOT gotten the ok to broadcast.

I am already planning on having a wedding at an Apple Orchard. Don’t judge me, I love love love orchards, and wineries and apple flavored cocktails??...hmm a thought. This wedding I’ll be semi-planning should be outside said bride. She wants a very private ceremony with a small reception. I wonder if she’ll want me to do the vows. The Grooms family, very religious might have other ideas. I don’t think God”ll mind, so I won’t mind either way. A couple of Wedding facilities that I will look into is the Edgerton Park space and the Pardee Rose Garden. I guess it means I’m looking TONIGHT since both places might already be booked and time is of the essence. My cousin got married a number of years back at a lovely facility in Naugatuck (so I thought) It was not a church but it had outdoor space for the ceremony and then a cute lil wedding hall. I feel bad NOT being able to recall if it indeed was in Naugatuck which wont help me trying to find the place. (found the place!!!)

Now don’t be alarmed that I have MY wedding location firmed up. I am flexible due to the fact that I do not have a current boyfriend. I am just getting location out the way. I am however up for a location change if enough people want in on my potential destination wedding.

So My cousin in Lagos Nigeria owns an upscale hotel and sent me these cool Green Saving tips for the home:
Part 1. Natural Cleaners - Spring is turning into Summer so we’re running late with our spring cleaning tips but Natural homemade cleaners are a smart way to clean your house the safe, non-toxic way. Take a look at these tips for cleaning your house (or office) with homemade organic and sustainable non-toxic cleaning products for your kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and windows.

• Vinegar - by adding 1/4 cup of vinegar to 2 or 3 cups of water. Vinegar naturally cleans like an all-purpose cleaner. Vinegar is a great natural cleaning product as well as a disinfectant and deodorizer. Always test on an inconspicuous area. It is safe to use on most surfaces and has the added bonus of being incredibly cheap. Improperly diluted vinegar is acidic and can eat away at tile grout. Never use vinegar on marble surfaces. Don't worry about your home smelling like vinegar. The smell disappears when it dries. Here are some uses for vinegar in the rooms of your house. Use it in the…

Bathroom - Clean the bathtub, toilet, sink, and countertops. Use pure vinegar in the toilet bowl to get rid of rings. Flush the toilet to allow the water level to go down. Pour the undiluted vinegar around the inside of the rim. Scrub down the bowl. Mop the floor in the bathroom with a vinegar/water solution. The substance will also eat away the soap scum and hard water stains on your fixtures and tile. Make sure it is safe to use with your tile.

*Kitchen- Clean the stovetop, appliances, countertops, and floor.
*Windows- Use solution to wipe glass with newspaper.

Laundry Room- Use vinegar as a natural fabric softener. This can be especially helpful for families who have sensitive skin. Add ½ cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle in place of store bought fabric softener. Vinegar has the added benefit of breaking down laundry detergent more effectively. (A plus when you have a family member whose skin detects every trace of detergent.)

• Lemon Juice - Lemon juice is another natural substance that can be used to clean your home. Lemon juice can be used to dissolve soap scum and hard water deposits. Lemon is a great substance to clean and shine brass and copper. Lemon juice can be mixed with vinegar and or baking soda to make cleaning pastes. Cut a lemon in half and sprinkle baking soda on the cut section. Use the lemon to scrub dishes, surfaces, and stains. Mix 1 cup olive oil with ½ cup lemon juice and you have a furniture polish for your hardwood furniture.

• Baking Soda - Baking soda can be used to scrub surfaces in much the same way as commercial abrasive cleansers. Baking soda is great as a deodorizer. Place a box in the refrigerator and freezer to absorb odors. Put it anywhere you need deodorizing action. Try these three kitchen ingredients as natural cleaning products in your home.

By the way *House of Awele Hotel is situated in a secluded area of Victoria Island Lagos. Across the land..sike I’m just in a festive mood. I guess most people are because of the long holiday. I am still thinking about a cook-out. But with cook-out’s come CLEAN-UP’s before and after and to be honest, I think I should pay someone to do ANY of it. Frankly there are only a few things that touch my heart the way a housekeeper can. They are so necessary. I mean the fact that I mess it up proves that I shouldn’t be cleaning it. Don’t get me wrong, I do clean I just don’t think its my DUTY to HAVE to clean CERTAIN things. (i.e., I HATE trash removal, dusting, sewage removal, cleaning up after teen age boys, cleaning up after males between the ages of 12-82, animal rubbish to name a few)

That’s leaves me with more Memorial Day anticipation. I do intend on having hotdogs and beans. I still haven’t gotten your invite. I’m waiting...

So I have SUCCESSFULLY added Sunflower seeds into my daily regimen. Did you know that a handful of sunflower seeds will take care of your hunger, while also enhancing your health by supplying significant amounts of vitamin E, magnesium and selenium? Not only will it have you thinking your full (natural hunger suppressant) but Vitamin E has also been shown to reduce the risk of colon cancer, help decrease the severity and frequency of hot flashes in women going through menopause. I have a ways to go, but I’m a natural sweater, so I have to keep this in mind for when I get old *laugh. Studies show that people who get a good amount of vitamin E are at a much lower risk of dying of a heart attack than people whose dietary intake of vitamin E is marginal or inadequate. Just a quarter-cup of sunflower seeds contains 90.5% of the daily value for vitamin E. I had high blood pressure a few years ago and when the doctor asked me if I was ready to start taking the daily dosage for preventative measures but he asked because the daily dosage was a lifetime dosage. I kindly PASSED and decided that I was going to lower my pressure. I couldn’t imagine taking a pill at age 25 for LIFE! I mean I do allot of things, that I will be doing for life, blood pressure pills aint one of em. I was successful. The Phytosterols in the actual Sunflower Seeds' help lower Cholesterol. I must say that I feel fuller after eating them. Magnesium is necessary for healthy bones and energy production. Magnesium ACTUALLY counterbalances calcium, thus helping to regulate nerve and muscle tone. Sunflower seeds are a good source of magnesium. And that’s awesome.

Let's talk about me being Anti cellphone. So I have this jazzy phone. I think it’s jazzy. It cost a million bucks (over $400) and wont work properly. Now I’m not the type that’s constantly dropping my phone, or keeping it out while a the beach or even the constant dropper in the toilet bowl, so I have no idea as to why it is that I purchase newly defective phones. I am actually so over the jazzy cellphone that I don’t want one. Sure I coulda bought the iphone. Of course I could be a crackberry” user, but I don’t really do good with fads, so I was deliberate about buying a phone that wont get mixed up if a guy stuck a group of individuals up and made us all hand over our cellphones. But this current dissatisfaction for this new piece of junk is discouraging. I swear, if I have to buy that Iphone 1. AT&T will have big problems. I actually think they are at the BOTTOM of the list for HORRIBLE customer service and second to last for ridiculous/ hidden prices. *sigh* I’m giving myself a headache. I guess this is a short one today..

Democratic Governor's and Baked Beans..May 25th

OK so this is the second blog entry this year (probably) I’m proud of myself. I intended on being able to enter something daily. Who knew it was a chore to think and then type.
So what’s in the news today?? Well in my world I am concerned about a Democratic Governor. So much so that my status on Twitter right now probably says as much. Connecticut has been under Republican dictatorship for the past 25 years. It’s no surprise that the state is in such a bad state. It’s no surprise that people that would normally vote (if they did vote) democratically are under complete stress and strain while the population of voters that are voting Republican are experiencing minor struggles (yes I am throwing Wall Street collapsing and Enron as minors, because its my blog) and looking to take more money out the budget for services and into transportation projects to help them get to and from the Cape. *sigh

Speaking of sighing -This oil spill really burns me up and I sign instantly when I hear anything about oil now. People are reporting about what damage the oil is causing and who’s paying for the clean up, and who will get regulated for it, and what BP’s throwing on it to make it go away, NOT! What the bleep is wrong with those people. I need to know exactly WHO did it so I can say a prayer for em, ‘cause there’s no punishment for the amount of damage caused. Like seriously. I don’t even know why the guys name hasn’t been made public yet. Don’t give me that, somebody pushed the wrong button or something. Somebody looked over something important or even worse fell asleep at the job. I want his name and I also wanna know how much he was fined. There’s allot of bogus fines out there. I get a fine for throwin something outta the window some spots on the highway(most) so I know throwing all that oil in that water should be the nail that..

So were already on the subject of throwing, anybody throwing any cool Memorial Day parties or cook-outs to invite me too? I am the BBQ queen. It sounds like I can throw DOWN on the grill or make a great salad, huh. Nope. Being the Queen of BBQ in my mind means simply loving barbeques more than any other Queen I know. I don’t have any plans as of yet (another plug) I am always thinking that it would be a great idea to throw such a party-the morning of the day off. I think its’ because I like eating cook-out foods like hot-dogs and cheeseburgers. Actually in case you didn’t know, my favorite food is a toss up between hot dogs and cheeseburgers. Both I can have with ocean rings and both I can have with BAKED BEANS. This is the perfect segway for what is your favorite hot dog brand. Beef of course. David Allen Grier brought it up this morning via twitter and I’ve been thinking about em every since. I’m partial to Hummels and am now trying to find out if this is the only hotdog brand I can eat without gagging. Pork dogs make me sick. Probably not literally but the after taste does and so does the first taste for that matter, so yes I’m gonna say I rock with the beef dogs. This does not mean that you can go on and diss Pork hear on after. Second to my local favorite is Nathans all Beef franks. I shouldn’t have to even elaborate any more than Coney Island...Sabretts comes to a mind for third, but let me in on a secret. I am not a fan of Oscar Meyers. Maybe It’s because when I HEAR Oscar Meyers the taste of Bologna comes to mind (then mouth). And bologna is one of those childhood menu items I refuse to revisit. Hamburger or Cheeseburger Helper, Tuna Helper, Cranberry sauce, peas, spaghetti-O’s, Shake & Baked ANYTHING, apple sauce—All on the list of childhood menu items that make me gag now as an adult.

Summer cook-outs remind me of warm weather, beaches, lemonade and MY Birthday!! July 19th is coming up and I so wanna have a cute themed birthday party. Not a party where anything’s planned. I just show up somewhere in a nice dress if I’m feeling ultra cute, some great things to snack on, BOMB music and of course NO room to make a speech or to have it singled out that it is indeed my birthday. The non announcement of my birthday however would interfere with the fact that I want presents. I’m not talking about getting me the SLR that I need or showing up in the R8 in white, but I’m gonna like opening up gifts. I should actually start giving better gifts. I always admired great gift givers. I can think of the perfect gift but will forget right up until the event leaving me no time to get the gift...*sigh * Ohhh Now that I think about it, how does a themed like DESTINATION birthday party sound? YES! I want IN!! Sorry I want a destination wedding and a themed birthday party. I had it right the first time...

This is the day...

So today I’m thinking about B.I.G. Well I won lie. I’ve been thinking about BIG for the past hour or so. It’s his birthday and he was my favorite rapper/MC/ Lyrist/ Hip Hop Star/ icon of all time.

I’m sitting her thinking about my day so far. I have had the luxury of playing Pac-Man on Google.com. I was my IT guys to know that I will not be defeated! They have blocked MOST sites and most things for that matter, so this little paradise away from “Censorship heaven” is appreciated. I’ve also been privy to hearing my co-worker complain about her life. She’s older than 70 and still working, but as far as I’m concerned she gets paid to chain-smoke. What’s the big deal with cigarettes anyway? I mean if you have to pay $8 a pack for them, just to leave work every 20 minutes to smoke them, then why bother? Or the fact that they cost $8 per pack should make you quit being that you literally have to buy more, just for it to shorten your life span. I Dunno. I’m over her cigarette breaks, almost as much as I’m over doing the work that someone else gets paid twice as much as I does. Shaking my Bleeping head. Opps, my Pastor said I should refrain from the bleep term. It makes sense since I don’t swear in the first place. So the cute, little shortened version of a word I had no intention of saying doesn’t make sense. It sounds cute and for shallow reasons I guess its why I picked it up in the first place. I also think I emphasize it because people don’t usually react the same way when you don’t swear. I get a mild response or even ignored.

I’m trying to think of what else we can catch up on being that this is my first blog entry in months. Who am I kidding, I haven’t journaled anything in years. I’ve made a ton of list tho. I am the list queen. Who asked/ who cares? *laugh I tickle myself. I actually have enough to say and write and comment about daily to fill Madison Square Garden. I like how people from up north use MSG for “big statements” like when Jay said from Marcy to “Madison Square”. I knew exactly what he meant. He meant MAJOR!
Speaking of major. Looks like I’m going to have a major attitude this fall since a few favorites are being ripped from what I consider already penciled in items on my calendar. It may sound SAD to you, but I love Tv. I loved Heroes and although I only watched Chuck twice, I wanted to love that show. I actually hated Law & Order until a year ago, so its only natural (Murphy’s Law) that its cancelled after I’ve spent the last year watching 12 episodes a day just to catch-up. *sigh I got an instant attitude when I found out that crazy guy left Law & Order: C.I since I was his biggest fan. I guess I should google him to find out his real name to now stalk him on Twitter. I’m praying he doesn’t disappoint me like Cyndi Lauper disappointed ol’ girl on the Celebrity Apprentice the other week. Now that’s a Good Show! I think that Donald is a little biased these days. Being a 2000’S dad might have him a bit discombobulated. I tend to think that a “2000’s kid” might have me doing whatever that is that he calls for a hair style too. I mean I like distinction like the next man but he seems to think that his style is cool. Frankly I think that he is too far removed from real people that his little interaction with the “teams” during the “boardrooms” aren’t enough to even ask any questions. In my mind, he should hand over the gig to his daughter. There’s something about the way she conducts business. She doesn’t seem like every other woman boss who in the eyes of her employees is “Medusa”. Maybe the brains and beauty thing is the appeal, but I also am very aware of her authoritative voice. She sounds like she is ready to blow a whistle OR call a foul. Whatever it is, her presence on TV at this moment is more effective for me than the Donald whining over who wants to go home early. *laugh I’m talking as if Nielsen’s paid me $1500. Actually I’ll say a few more positive sentiments for $70 if Celebrity Apprentice pays me. LOL...
This is going to be a busy weekend for me. I am a delegate or the Democratic State convention. Reading My Left Nutmeg's blog and then Ivonnah's blog yesterday gave me the incentive to actually finish this journal entry. I love sharing with people and in turn them sharing with me, so please check out theirs. Check out my back entries. I am going to try and get a weekend of entry’s so I can understand the political process better (I’ll ingest it when I get home perhaps)...For those of you know me, I’ve rambled on enough. I’m sure Ill have a whole bunch of contradictions tomorrow, but til then....

Galatians 6:7 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

Are you Hungry?

So what is everyone talking about today? Is it still Kanye or Joe Williams? I’m glad people stopped talking about Serena Williams, That’s for Sure! I didn’t see the entire match, therefore I will not say much. I know that when temper is concerned, it’s any man’s game.

Let’ talk about the problem the world is facing called Hunger.

What is hunger?
Hunger occurs when people do not receive a sufficient amount of calories and nutrients from food. Most people who battle hunger suffer from chronic undernourishment and vitamin or mineral deficiencies, resulting in stunted growth, weakness and heightened vulnerability to illness. This affects their long-term physical and mental health.

Who does hunger affect?
Over 923 million people in the world are undernourished. More than 90 percent of the people affected by hunger live in extreme poverty (less than a dollar a day) in developing countries. The most vulnerable populations are children under five years old and women who are pregnant or breast-feeding.

Hunger is a political problem that can be solved.

Although the US has been promising to play a lead role in ending global hunger for decades, current government efforts continue to have a limited impact.

We have both the knowledge and the resources to roll back the current food crisis and to root out hunger. If the US steps up to the challenge of providing global leadership, we can meet the Millennium Development Goal of cutting world hunger in half by 2015, and pave the way towards ending hunger in our lifetime.

Sign the Root Out Hunger Petition
http://actioncenter.org/take_action/1

http://www.globalcitizencorps.org

Loss

I’ve been thinking allot lately about fear and loss. I know a man who’s mourning the loss of his mom. She suffered a stroke the other day and although she is alive, she’s no longer breathing on her own and he virtually loss her days ago. He has accepted that she’s gone. She made him swear that she wouldn’t have to suffer with attempts to revive her or keep her breathing, but she’s still alive and he is mourning her loss. This makes me miss dear things about the people that I love and it makes me think about the memories that will made but it also make me think about loss and the loss of memories. The loss of stability, the loss of love, the loss of being there, existing are all things that I will feel sad to lose. I don’t want it to hinder my growth. I don’t want the fear of loss to stunt my ability to soar, but it’s still scary. Flying’s still scary. If only immortality wasn’t to scary. Or maybe it’s the idea of the unknown that scares us, but the idea of loss or being without scares me. And I don’t mean tangible attributes. I won’t miss things that you can think of right away. I’ll miss the things that make you, you. I’ll miss that thing you always do when your tired or I’ll think about how you hold your head when you laugh, or I’ll even recall the feeling I get when I see you. I’ll be at a loss at your loss. Who said this was about you, I guess no one. I started off writing this as if it wasn’t about any one in particular then I thought about how personal it would be to lose you or you. Then it hit me. Loss could mean anyone.

thinking about Kids!

Honey chile, Help! I am finding it hard to get youth these days who will 1. Take the bull and then run with it, I mean I love the fact that our Dwight youth are stepping up to face the challenges, I just don't see, and your probably finding the same thing, The zest or zeal to Soar past the issues. In your day, you could instantly name the young people in our community that were doing something positive because there was so much that needed to be done, you seen it and you seen them. Now its like there are children that aren’t contributing to negative aspects of their community, but the owness, is no longer there's, because they are” over it" or above it or just used to "someone else" doing it. All these things are attributing to the kids who are "being good" to just be complacent and then they can either become bitter and leave New Haven or bitter and still leave New Haven in their minds.

I sit here at City Hall and watch hundreds of children walk up in here like they don't have a brain, wardrobe, or home for that matter. And these are children, who for the most part-have been identified as people who will change my future and the people guiding them aren't saying pull up your pants, take the do-rag off, no need to SHOUT in the Mayors Office, or please don’t slide down the rail. I am commending you for being focused on the youth. I get the pleasure of asking them daily what their dreams or plans are and I'm nervous because although you can't tell these kids they don't have it all together, but they wont even answer the "where will they be in 10 years. They aren't even worried! Never have I seen someone turn down a laptop or digital camera or anything free for the sake of nothing.

So Mark Cuban called a basketball player a thug the other day. I guess in the name calling, he added Kenyon into the mix by saying

“that includes your son

” (Kenyon Martin). I have included the link so you can read the drama for yourself. I know emotions get all “weird” during competitive sports, especially comes grossing allot of money, but I am also used to random people calling other urban like people urban like names. I just passed “Street Thug” in Mafia Wards so I know all about the jobs you have to do to be considered one *smirk*

I also didn’t get to vent about the ANTI-swine propaganda issue. Thank Goodness, they changed the name, but I still hear the media calling it swine flu. I totally hate the media for creating a false sense of urgency. Sure there might be a bad cold out there, why they gotta bring pigs into it???

I recently seen and heard some stuff about healthier, younger looking HAIR. I can’t imagine that my hair looks old, so I am going to google, after this, old looking hair. Google Images BABY!

So what’s everyone thinking about this Jon and Eight plus Kate? That’s what I consider the show. Mainly because I haven’t watched it, but when I had, the woman seemed like she could be (or would be in my mind) on her way out. What’s her problem? I couldn’t watch the show without being embarrassed about the naggy wife. I’m sorry, the demeaning, demoralizing, and all the rest of the D words to describe take away your power. Boy, she’s rough.

April Buzz...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 254px; height: 230px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_GI2vcunRW34/Se950lupsNI/AAAAAAAAAK4/4E-Ql80s36I/s320/Solidarity.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327610828590526674" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_GI2vcunRW34/Se95hD6SEdI/AAAAAAAAAKw/bdQYr5_XkiI/s320/cathy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5327610493094990290" />
So Chatty Cathy told me to tell yall hi. I told her I was going to spill some beans today, so he was all to thrilled to hear/read what's going to be discussed.

I am totally against College Students carrying any type of (dangerous) weapon. They drink too much and party all the time. While spending someone's precious, hard earned Monies, they buffoons and parade around campus in sheets, slapping and subjecting each other to high amounts of pain while intoxicated, mushroomed, high, who knows…..I just don’t like it. Now there is some question about whether these idio_ sorry young, impressionable people should carry a lethal weapon? Who is asking? This is coming from someone who goes to the range but not the kids. You know the kids make a mess!

So I’m still bugged out about this John Madden is retiring. Now I don’t know much about baseball, but hasn’t John Madden retired from football some time ago? Now I’m confused and smell a scam. I would or could Google the whole situation but I won’t.

Totally unrelated- I can’t wait to be able to hire like three people to intern in my business for the summer and then maybe on-going. No, really.

I want to go see American Violet this weekend. It looks GREAT and is playing conveniently downtown.

Mimi is off to Thailand. (if your reading this your like, sure am…lol) and personally, I wish I were there. I love how people use personally, like I could speak for anyone else. Anywho, I like the idea of being in the Asian tropic heat. Those who know me know that I love the whole Asian…never mind. I won’t bore you with my affinity for Asian culture. I have an affinity for Culture period. I love the fact that people are connected in so many ways, language & dialect, food and oral traditions, all that. I love it! Speaking of culture. The Harlem Book Fair is coming up. The fair is being held at the Javits this year. I was looking forward to walking up and down the streets of Harlem. This is, I suppose, better for weather purposes. The fair is July, 2009.

Do you have a favorite poem? I was asked this recently and had to first think about why I didn’t have one. I couldn’t recall any poets and became frustrated that I forgot my poetic roots. So thank the Heavens for the internet because I simply threw in a search for African- American poets and up popped Langston. I instantly remembered feeling some type of way about one of his poems about America or something. Then I googled “sing/ America” and there it was. The poem of all poems. Not that it’s the best, or that I can say that it should top all others. I felt introspective, proud, optimistic, and prosperous the day I read it (as a kid) and each time I’ve read it since then.

Does everyone love Restaurant Week as much as I do? My mom and I went to a few places and the portions at Kudete and Carmen Anthony were huge. The others served good-sized portions. I was pleasantly surprised at the fact that no restaurants gave small portions. I am still reluctant about giving Carmen Anthony’s high reviews. The service was not good. We kept giving him chances to redeem himself. Anyway, please go and check out a few of these places. I have 6:30 reservations for Soul de Cuba tonight. You can check out the five places here, here, here, here and of course, here.

From New Haven to DC Part 1

1/22/2009
so My trip was wonderful. I can say it started off crazy. And it's probably sleep deprivation/delirium/ "looking back at it and laugh" type of thing that is making me say it was wonderful without reservation. I think I will have to break this up in parts so I wont get carried away….

We started the trip to DC at the back of the Elks on Dixwell, like every other trip going someplace outside of New Haven. The bus was nice, no Cardinals or Chippeo special. We left at 10:30 am and the day looked promising. The driver reminded me of someone your aunt is dating. He’s kinda fine, but kinda older. I dunno, he kinda has an attitude, I decided not to play him to close. To the middle of the bus for me. The hostess mentions picking up another 19 people in Brooklyn, she also mentions that there are games and even lunch that can be passed back or retrieved. By the time the it-ist hit row 14, we were all swaying to the Oldies and some not Goodies (in my mind). Then the party began. I had seen the tippin in the bathroom row, so I had anticipated that Bonita Batrell would jump up when the electric slide played. Deb, much to my surprise was one of the first up. The oldies but Goodies danced, laughed, they shuck tail feathas and within 45 was back in their seats. The raffle was done, we played Deal or no Deal and everyone got some type of gift (Money included). We hadn’t gotten into NYC good before I was swearing that this trip lady could count me in on ANY AND ALL future trips. Then the shadyness began. The bus driver, whom I am still addressing as such because I didn’t get his name, but the guy steering the bus gets us to the BK destination very suspect. We get back onto the highway to get going just as…..shady. He’s tall, and dark skinned with a bald head, so he was being held to a respectable standards for a while. Even after his lack of GPS. He began to crack under pressure when the air temperature kept being an issue. He said people were hot one minute then cold the next. He should have started off consistently shutting us down saying he really doesn’t take request. Therefore eliminating random people callin gout what and how they wanted to feel every 6-12 minutes. There is some sort of seat issue. There were two people that didn’t have a seat and after deliberating for 13 minutes, ther NYC trip lady was thanking the CT group for accommodating her. I didn’t even know buses expanded like this. This trip (in my mind), was gonna be something! I immediately grab my new MP3 player. Those who know me know I can’t stop looking at this thing (most electronic new things). I can hear 5 different conversations that had me rolling my eyes, smiling, laughing, and asking my mom questions. All while trying to read the guy in the other rows newspaper upside down because it looked Japanese. Yes, it was time for me to calm down. I was excited. I am normally excited, but this was better. This is like waiting for the mail when you know your income tax check is days away. It’s Better! I begin to notice the sun shining next to me as we’re sitting in this one place on the highway. We’ve been sitting here long enough for me to get a nice shot. I have a thing for shots with that sun glare, never mind. I want to take a picture, only my camera will shoot the reflections of harsh dirt and residue from the windows reflection. I take the “L(oss)” and try to get my mind off the facts that were still sitting here. It’s now getting darker. I am starting to feel the smoker’s anxiety. We are still here.

No checks and Merry Christmas!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 98px; height: 136px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_GI2vcunRW34/SVKbz5hXopI/AAAAAAAAAKg/iAlnp0P6XYg/s320/gb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5283456628775428754" />
Merry Christmas goes out to all of you!!! Even you Jewish people, still waiting for the Muscka or whatever. I still care for yall and wish you the best as well.

I am going to start off by congratulating all the parents who made their children’s wishes come true this holiday season. I am only congratulating you up until Three King’s Day in which will be when the lil Mocoso’s are done playing with you and the stupid gameboy, toy or whatever it was that had you spending your change trying to prove that Mommy and Daddy really do listen, it’s you –You lil…….sorry…..

Did anybody see Cadillac records? I must admit my hormones were working over time seeing Mos Def turn Chuck Berry into a sex symbol. Yes, I know most musicians are or would love to consider themselves sex symbols but there’s something so appealing about Mos Def. He may have that “awkward that you look sexy with a few role and checks here and there” syndrome. But then again, I would have to have the syndrome. But you should go see this movie. I am more than excited to see the Spirit. In fact, I should get my tickets now- so there will be no problems tomorrow at Bow Tie. I am trying not to get baited into thievery tomorrow. The movie studios did the unthinkable and hit us all in the head with like 4 movies all coming out on the same day. I refuse to be in the movies ALL day on Christmas and I refuse to spend $10 on more than 1 film. So it looks like I will be seeing the Spirit and waiting for a really good review of The Curse of…and the other 10 that looks good.

They found poor Caylee, huh. Would you that believe spell check totally had Caylee in there. Sike, but they might as well have. I’m saying, that’s how much publicity this case has gotten. I just feel bad for the grandmother. It’s always hard creating a mess. When I make a mess, I instantly feel remorseful for anyone around. Usually it’s because I knew I was going to make the mess and they didn’t. The surprise mess you’ve created in someone else’s life- the worse. So Grandma is probably feeling bad that Caylee’s mom, (I don’t know the relation, so I shouldn’t probably even have any say so…) was lying and ultimately left this kid to whatever happened to her.

Did anyone who works for the City of New Haven think they were getting paid today? Honey, I along with 16 other people (I counted on my hands and toes) thought we were getting a sweet Holiday treat-as in our pay checks today, rather than Friday. Boy, were people pissed. I was only pissed because Jesus came down and refrained me from spending all my money last night at the Olive Garden (you know how money will burn a hole in your pockets so even if you stop at a gas station-you’re buying ER thang?!!?!?)

Breaking windows and weekend OCD..

I just over heard a co-worker “admiring” another co-worker just now when she doesn’t feel that way normally. Actually it’s a big understatement. I almost choked on my coffee. She’s actually hating on someone else, so this lady is a saint next to him. Hmm. This made me instantly take my own tongue and slam it against my teeth. How dare I think one way about someone and then feel the total opposite the next. I am def. going to try to refrain from talking about most people. I mean, it’s not healthy for me and the other person. Honestly, with my short memory (lack there of) issues aside will make me second guess speaking ill of someone. I am in total agreement with you.

4 Day work week- No one’s mentioning the pay decrease. Yes people- work less pay less. I think people think automatically yes, same check one less day!

Do you think Obama should pick Hillary as his whatever? I haven’t been keeping up with her because frankly, never mind. I just wouldn’t have her in my cabinet.

What’s everyone doing this weekend? I’ve got school on Saturday. I was sick last class and stressed myself out about missing the class. So I’ve been studying like I’ve missed something. I did, because class is only twice a month so allot of the notes, as you can imagine are given right in class. I’M NOT CLAIMING OCD-but I basically write most things down to prevent myself from getting up and walking out. But I’ve got a secret, I love perfect attendance.
I am also having my girlfriend Jackie over for some Mary Kay goodness. My mom used a regimen that I ended up loving myself, so this will be a good time for me to buy some. I didn’t have a party-party, but I invite anyone over who might wanna buy something, perhaps for the holidays, ya know.

Hey, it’s time to start shopping for airfare for Phoenix for February. Oww!

I shouldn’t be skipping all over the place, we haven’t even chatted about Thanksgiving. My mom told me that it will be at Aunt Alicia’s house this year. It’s always good to not have to cook. I know your like, B, you don’t cook. I just hear it’s a chore, but good to have to just show up for-Ok!

Oh my goodness, did I tell you about my new show. Yes, I got sucked into The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Talk about crazy! It was fascinating to hear random women talk about personal assistants and having “people” to do this and that-Fascinating! You see it yet?

How about Guy Richie not wanting a penny of Madonna’s blood money. I think it’s natural for him not to want to fight over her fortune when he has his own, I mean how much is enough. Sure, he could have taken her for half under British law. He knows that he is gangsta (he has been known to spew a few slurs around town mate..)and his ex is just as sinister. He knew Madonna would have been slinging more mud that what’s her leg- McCartey’s. Shoot, she dragged him through the mud and he did her the same. You know how Madonna get’s down (dirty) while just making music. You think Jasmine Sullivan breaks windows. WP’s break allot more cause they have too much time to think it all up.

Supporting your friends...

So I am feeling some type of way-but only for a second…. I was on the phone last night setting up an appointment with my girlfriend to buy some Mary Kay. She’s had her own Mary Kay business for almost a year now and I felt so horrible about “just now” supporting her business. I too have dreams and aspirations of creating my own financial stability, so I completely want to support someone else who wants the same thing. The thought, though makes me a little sad. I have had my own business for some time now. I hear other people traveling, coming and going and never once does anyone even mention the fact that I might be of assistance. I don’t take it too personally; I just keep in mind all the times that I will support people, because I want them to thrive, not because I ultimately want them to support me.

Bianca See's Red

Bianca See’s red - There are way too many people plotting Obama’s downfall. I don’t want to hear about “what if he gets assassinated”. I don’t even want to hear about “what if he doesn’t win”. People are too negative for their own goods. All I hear is Negative Ned’s and Nagging Nancy’s spewing their negativity around. They never “will” anything good to happen. They’re always the first to fall and the last to get up. I feel selfish because I want these people to get it but sometime’s you can’t have them around. I know that God has a plan for Barack. I certainly pray about the things he will accomplish. I know that everyone I know is praying for the change that he will bring. But I need the naysayers to also pray. Not for his downfall but for their mercy. Someone once had a saying about God protecting two kinds of people. Children can’t vote.

Now that I am done tearing into the nation of naysayers. I want to quickly chat (tear into) about poor Elizabeth from The View. If she hasn’t come out and said she wishes Obama would go back to “where he came from”, she will. She often times gets yelled at on that show, but then again, I find myself yelling at the TV at her, so I don’t feel all that bad. Especially since God has that thing for fools.

Let’s chat about Mr. Charles “No-Talk” Barley. Let me stop. Charles “Spit on ya” Barkley. Forgiveness is one of the things I ask God for. I hold grudges and I can’t get over him spitting on the random sports fanatic/Heckler. This spectator paid for tickets, like I might of, and probably let his/her emotions get the best of them and perhaps got under the skin of this intense athlete. The heckler was sort of like the basketball player on the court, excited and full of emotion. Charles went from trash talker to crazy. In December 1999 he spit on a 10 year old girl and looked like he meant it. I knew the man was crazy when he defiantly went on a rant some years prior about sport figures not being role-models. I still don’t know how he got the name “Sir Charles”. Usually Sirs are given to gentlemen. Maybe it’s his use of the king’s language. Who cares what his name is, why would he think he should run for governor? I mean he has a job already. The sports announcer thing suits him only because he knows sports. But he didn’t even complete his public speaking courses. How do I know? Because he doesn’t speak well! Maybe I need to hear what he’s speaking about, but gees, anyone really can run for Governor, but to win. Arnold was the first person to have me rethinking the roles of a governor. My own Governor at the time of Arnold election had been wheelin, stealing and dealing. He eventually went to jail but we got to see what types of qualification you have to be to become a Governor with Mrs. Sarah Palin. I am disappointed at the poor examples of our current leaders. I mean I was a C student sometimes but I’m not sure the President worked hard for those C’s. Sarah Palin got by on social promotion like I did due to Public School education. What’s her excuse?

You into twitter yet?

You hear about that UI rate increase? Honey chile, they are trying to go up again! This time they want to increase rates by 20% and one of the reasons is because “they have to keep their operation running”. I don’t see a decrease of electrical CONSUMPTION. I don’t see a slow down in population so they want to basically keep their revenue running in an upwards direction. Great, I now see another hustle that I was obviously in denial about.

So I want to send prayers out for Jennifer Hudson’s family. I try not to think about how different my life will be without my mother. I can only hope that she is able to stand as long as she can stand and can cry as much as she wants to cry. I pray that she can reach some of level of comfort and similar peace that her loved ones are facing at this very moment.

Ode to Edna

Edna Baker Carnegie

Edna Baker Carnegie, of New Haven, departed this life, October 12, 2008 at her home at the age of 96
Wow, talk about Living legend! I had the privilege to have learned some of the most valuable lessons from this woman. Whether it was while camping, making “Jesus Crosses” or singing to the Elderly, Mrs. Carnegie managed to teach excellence with every breath she took. She might have been the most strict, fastest walker on this side of the map, but she was sweeter than a kitten while helping every girl in town. I remember receiving my first Girl Friendly’s pen. The second, she kept reminding us, would be silver. She was so proud when we all came around at St. Luke’s to receive it from her and in front of God. She blessed our friendship circle and made it grow and grow. I am thankful to have “paid my dues” and even though I was late, she never denied me in.

Wachovia and are you registered?

So what’s in the news today people? Well it’s Monday. My weekend was nice. I was supposed to go to a wedding on Saturday. I didn’t. It rained as you probably know or heard. That didn’t bother me much. I ended up doing some things I hadn’t planned on doing. I won’t harp on it. I’ll learn from it. One thing I did do was drank too much. FYI, too much for me is more than one glass of anything. I knew I’d probably feel sick by the end of the night or definitely in the morning, yet I still drank. I even ate some of the best lasagna I’ve had in my life. My heart burn gave me such headaches a few years back, I swore off red sauce. I had 3 servings yesterday knowing I’d pay for it, and I did. It could have been worse.

So what do you think about this Economic bail out Issue? Frankly, I don’t even get into any debate where over 100 million dollars is mentioned. In a nutshell, I don’t think there is a billion of anybodies dollars left. The US certainly doesn’t have it. I mean at least back in the day, the dollar was EQUAL to something (GOLD). But now since my American Dollar isn’t even worth the paper it’s printed on, why carry it around. Opps, we don’t any more. *smile * Sure people “accept” it now, but not for long. So they keep throwing out numbers to scare me, like “we’re spending 500 Billon dollars on a war”, but what’s scarier is that they expect me to believe we have that money anyway. Buy Euro before it’s too late!

Paul Newman passed away, if you’re living under a rock. I like the fact that he took everything he made after reaching a level of success and donated every cent of it to benefit someone else.

Cadbury is recalling candy now. You hear about that? I don’t know how I feel about this. I’m lying. I’m enraged. The Chinese are selling me bad stuff, yall. We got problems yall. Our economic structure is now breast-feeding off of the need for Chinese imports/ exports and they’re stuff is all jacked up! And because my American government sold it’s SOUL to China, what used to be a Willy Wonka bar is now a Cadbury Rotten egg!

Wachovia, I hear just announced their selling off to Citigroup, citing it was saving the banks almost take-over or collapse. Now this comes as a surprise to me. I bank there and had no idea that they were “close to reaching Washington Mutual status” if hadn’t been saved by Citi who announced a few months ago that they were shrinking it’s company. The Citi financial giant has posted close to $18 billion in losses over the past three quarters, while taking nearly $50 billion in writedowns on its diverse loan portfolio. *Sigh*

My week of Victory- Let me tell you how over zealous I am with this voting thing. I was asked to register Yallies at a local Indian restaurant that happens to be in my ward (neighborhood) Tuesday of last week. I was so pumped up about the 2 people who signed up that I called a friend and asked if I could come down to the YMCA on a live night and sign more people up. I was able to register 8 new voters and I gave out restoration info as well as Polling place changes. I arrived at such a random time; I know that I’ll be able to get more people this week. I find this stuff so easy to do; I mean my mom repeats her stories of how she was registering people to vote when she was 16 and 18 years old. They were fighting for serious issues back then and “we” were “just allowed” to vote, so I can’t take that for granted. Some people say they don’t vote because it’s a waste of time, who are we kidding? Americans waste allot of things, time especially. But someone I might of known died for my opportunity to do so. I don’t think it’s such a chore, but then again, I considered myself a nerd as a kid.

Will I watch?

I’m going to be honest with you people. I am afraid to watch the debate tonight. This is where they will separate the boys from men, but this is also a time where “political amnesia is demonstrated blatantly. I have no doubt that McCann will do any better than Bush did during his debates some years ago. Actually McCann hasn’t won me over with charm or wit like Bush has. Bush reminds me of those cool crabby old lady cartoons with the sunglasses who always has something feisty to say. He reminds me of that 90 year old biddy who refuses to turn over the car keys. Ineffectively dangerous! I mean no one”ll say anything for a number of reason to old people. Bush unfortunately is funny while attempting to be serious. I find humor in the fact that he will have 1000 speeches written for him from highly educated, politically savvy speech-writers only to muck it up with genuine emotion. One thing I respect about Bush is his candor. If Bush is an enemy you know it. He doesn’t try to hide his disinterest for you. If he wants’ what you have, he will take it and talk badly about you on air. He will snicker at you and make unfunny jokes attempting to humiliate you in front of the world. He will then try to recruit a few allies in on the newly formed beef, unjustifiably so he can take your assets and then dignity. His jokes aren’t funny, but he swears they are. That’s funny in itself. Put it together with that crazy accent and woah….laugh to keep from crying.

Beauty & the Bush

I have a question. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then why are there fashion magazines and why is there so much emphasis on what looks good?

Hold on, why is McCann asking to postpone the debates to “work on the economy?” Uh, what does he mean, “work on the economy?” Why wasn’t he working on it anyway. Isn’t he a policy-maker? Wasn’t he in a position to “focus on the crisis facing the US Economy sitting from his senate seat? This kind of stuff pisses me off. I mean who are these people fooling? I mean he probably has to “rush back” to make sure his Freddie/ Fannie connections are sound.

they starting that ish...

So the Palin and the McCann Clan are trying to pull a Juno on America, huh. Yeah I said it. Juno! You know that movie was funny, but not the way you think. You know that same issue that’s been plaguing most of the generations (after the X) for how many years now. That same issue spliced generations and now there’s 35 year old grandma’s. It’s not a new issue, but I guess because it’s happening to the “Republican’s” it’s a dire issue. Well I don’t buy it. But I tell ya who is. All I heard at work the day after Palin’s speech was how she “owned” the speech (she didn’t even deliver) and how sweet little Trigg looked every time baby Jessica interrupted his nap time. To be honest I thought the small daughter was the one with the “problem” until they CAMERA-In’ed on Trigg. I swear, America pulls this crap all the time. How about when McCann made the final utterance at the end of his Republican Nomination Speech “change is COMING” only after Barak’s been using that motto for what YEARS NOW. I don’t get it and I don’t want to!! Now I read from CNN contributor Ed Rollins, that Obama should have picked Clinton. Some even say they are undecided. But I can’t imagine how you could be if you heard simply the two Presidential candidate’s acceptance speeches. I know commercials are compelling. I know some have to “wait and hear the debates” but whatever. I am solid on who I want for President.

I know this may be old news or even boring to some of you. But this Barak thing is vital to me and I listen to tons of BS on television, work, outside work on a daily basis that frankly I don’t care if you “mind” reading mine. *Smile *

Since I might have your attention I am using my "powers for good" and allowing you to access the State of CT's voting restoration Info here!
